The Pig and the Altar of Baal | and then Elijah
The disease spread through the entire pen until, at last, they all danced together before the altar of Baal.
And Baal demanded a sacrifice. That sacrifice was the defenders of truth, the bishops, elders, deacons, and members who still recognized the infected pig and refused to bow.
The diseased could no longer discern righteousness, because the sickness had warped their judgment. They could not see that the sacrifice was the very people who had prayed with them, counseled them, wept with them, worshipped beside them, and stood in their defense.
While the sacrifice was consumed, the pigs danced and praised before the altar, playing their instruments of seduction as though destruction itself were worship.
The greatest tragedy was this:
The diseased looked at their own brothers and sisters and saw only another pig laid upon Baal’s altar.
And then Elijah.
